As we have entered into a new year I know many of us have a new years resolution that has something to do with weight loss or just getting healthier in general. We know how much of a struggle it can be trying to live a healthy lifestyle which is why we have come up with 10 weight loss tips! From my experience there isn’t an easy way to lose weight fast so before we begin we have to remember that this is a lifestyle change. It took me 3 years to finally lose the weight it took me only 6 months to put on. It might not be a fast process, but it definitely is worth it!
1. Drink Water!
I know this might seem like an obvious step, but it really does help not only in weight loss, but also with every aspect of your health! Water helps your skin (anti-aging) along with aids in digestion. If you are struggling to create bowel movements, then this simple step should help with this as well. Try to drink 8 glasses a day, but if you can’t do that try to get it as close to that as you can:)
I know I know… who really wants to workout? Before I started living my healthier lifestyle I would make every excuse under the sun to not workout. I have been there and done that. The truth about losing weight though isn’t just eating healthier… you HAVE to workout as well. The type of workout you do can vary differently based on your health, weight, and age. Someone who is very overweight would benefit greatly from just walking as much as they can and doing some strength exercises. I will never forget what one of my college friends said to me. I was going on a walk with my at that time boyfriend and excited that I had walked everyday I said, “I have been walking everyday, hopefully this helps with my weight problem.” She looked at me point blank and said, “Reeni you are 21 years old… you need to be running. Do it now while you can.” This was a slap in the face to the kind of life I was leading at the time. She was 100% right, and now 6 years later running is one of my favorite workouts.
3. Eat Veggies!
One of the best things about veggies is that you can eat A LOT without getting the calories you so desperately don’t want! I try to eat as naturally as I can (meaning stuff that comes from the earth). As opposed to a diet, when you focus on eating from the earth, then you can eat a lot of food. It helps you realize that you don’t have to starve yourself to live a healthy life while losing weight at the same time! It is a win-win for everyone.
4. Grab a Buddy
I know it is so much easier to stick with a lifestyle change if you have a buddy/friend that is helping you through it. My workout buddy/friend was my husband. He worked out with me during the first few months of working out even on the days he didn’t want to. He knew this was important to me to stick with it so he made sure he pushed me as far as I could go. This helps so much in keeping you accountable to your goals. Even with a buddy you won’t do everything perfectly, but you will have such a higher chance of sticking with it in the long run. I highly recommend you find someone now to help! 5. Keep Healthy Snacks at Home
The worst feeling in the world is being hungry without anything quick to grab that is healthy. That is why it is so important to keep healthy snacks at home, at work, or in your car. What I like to do is every week cut up some veggies/healthy fruit for snacks for the week. This makes it so much easier actually eating healthy if it is quick to grab something from the fridge. Along those same lines try not to keep sugar/unhealthy food in your home. There are some people who can have them at home without it tempting them, but let me tell you a secret… I am not one of those people! If it is at my house I will eat it. Therefore, I just don’t keep those foods at home. If you live with people who like to eat food like that either ask them politely to hide them from you or try to get them to eat healthier as well. You are doing something good for their health:)
