3 Business Books We Love!

live breathe inspire

There are 3 Business Books that we have really enjoyed reading and that have helped us greatly in our business ventures.  We tried to pick books that could be incorporated into most businesses out there.  You don’t have to be a business owner or want to be a business owner to get practical tips from these books.  We highly recommend them!  You can also check out the reviews on amazon for each of the items to see what others are saying!

Think and Grow Rich: The Landmark Bestseller – Now Revised and Updated for the 21st Century

We liked this book because not only does it give you business advice, but it also gives you advice in general about how you can grow rich.  It talks a lot about the power of positive thinking.  It wasn’t until this book that I realized how powerful thoughts are.  It is a great book to help you retrain your brain into thinking more positively, and it gives you some great practices to start incorporating into your business today!

The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich (Expanded and Updated)

Now we know most of you are thinking, “There is absolutely NO way this can happen,” and “It isn’t worth my time.”  That is what we thought the first time we read the title too.  What we didn’t realize though is how much quality information this book has to offer!  After reading this book you probably won’t be only working 4 hour weeks, but we guarantee that you will either be able to start working less or be more productive throughout your day.  Tim Ferris not only gives you tips about how to create a business for yourself, but he also shares how we can cut time and energy from doing the things we are so used to doing every single day.  We highly recommend this book (even if you don’t have your own business)!

EntreLeadership: 20 Years of Practical Business Wisdom from the Trenches

Not only do we love this book for the wise business advice that it gives, but we also loved listening to Dave Ramsey read the audio version.  He has such a great southern accent and makes listening to his books fun!  We liked this book for the fact that he goes over how a business owner needs to think and act.  It also gives insight into how to treat employees.  He is such a wise man, and has some great tips for hardships that come up in any business.  He talks about hiring/firing employees, how to treat them, and much more!

We hope you enjoy these books as much as we have!  They each offer something unique to the reader.  That is why we went with these three books because we feel like they each hit on a different topic in business.  They will help expand your thinking and help you to take action into making your dreams come true.  Whatever they may be!

10 Great Inexpensive Date Ideas:)

live breathe inspire If you are like us, we love to go on dates with our husbands.  One of the dilemmas we run into a lot is the money spent on these dates.  Like most couples our budgets are tight, and in order to keep them from getting off track, we need to make sure our wallets are in check when planning for fun nights out!  It doesn’t sound romantic, but for those of us who like to go out, it is better than sitting at home watching tv… (although there is nothing wrong with those chill kind of nights sometimes!).

This is the reason behind this blog post!  We want to create a fun/inexpensive way to enjoy each other on those precious occasions you can find to leave your cares behind and have a great time!

10 Great Inexpensive Date Ideas:

1. Picnic in the park!

This sounds so obvious, but I don’t think this is the first thing that crosses peoples’ minds when thinking of a fun/free activity.  If you decide to do this, make sure you go before dark as most parks close at dusk or dark:)  So pack up a couple of easy food items into a basket and a couple of those fake electronic candles and go to a park nearest you!  When thinking about food, make sure you pick items that will not only travel well but also won’t be too messy!

2.  A Walk/Hike- One of my personal favorites!

This is one of my personal favorites for my husband and I to do together!  You can pick anywhere you want to go to get this walk in.  We have a couple of pretty lakes around our house that we like to walk around.  We also have gone to some nice neighborhoods to look at all the pretty houses as we walk (kind of like great scenery).  Another option would be going to a park with some hiking trails.  This would be great scenery as well and you could see the beautiful nature all around!

3.  Dollar Movie Theater

We have one next to us that has significantly cheaper ticket prices than the normal movie theaters.  They are movies that are already out on DVD, but it is nice to sit in a theater sometimes.  I love it because you get the “movie theater” feel without paying as much!

4.  Ice Cream/Walking around Town

This is one of my favorites!  Grab your favorite ice cream treat and walk it off around town.  You can eat and have some real conversation to go with it.  There is nothing better than unwinding from a busy day with great ice cream and your man/women beside you!

5.  Game Night

This is an easy/cheap idea, but so much fun!  You can play board games or play some games you might not have played since you were a child.  My husband loves playing corn hole (a game he has been playing since he was young).

6.  Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt’s can be around the city, town, or even just around your neighborhood.  You can take turns creating these for each other, and on two separate date nights implement them.  Try creating them around personal items/experiences that you two have had before.  It will make it more meaningful.  When my husband and I were dating, this is what he used to ask me to be his girlfriend:) It was inexpensive, and so thoughtful!

7.  Put Putt

I think this pretty much explains itself!

8.  Minor League Sporting Event

Do you or your significant other like sports?  This is a great alternative than paying lots of money going to a major league game.  Not only that, but look for a night where they are doing something unique and fun!  Our local minor league game has a “pet night” that lots of people like going too since we all love our pets!

9.  Be Creative/In The Moment

Make sure to keep an eye out for those special times that can easily be turned into a “date night.”  Sitting on the porch, eating dinner together in the candlelight, turning on a slow song and starting to dance, or just creating a game while in Target getting groceries!

10.  Check Out Local Events

There are so many fun things to do in different areas.  For example, in my area we have something called “First Fridays.”  This is where stores and galleries open up, and people walk around downtown Canton looking at all the art work and eating some good food.  I am sure there are a lot more fun/cheap events in your area.  You just have to keep an eye out.

In our lives, we need to make sure to take the time to go on date nights with our significant other.  Something doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun!  There are so many ways to create amazing date nights and beautiful memories!  Remember these when you are needing some alone time:)

How To Stay Warm This Winter- My Favorite Items!

Staying Warm During Winter

Warm Weather Favorites

So as everyone knows it has been a tough winter!  It has even been tough for states who aren’t used to having “winter weather” with snow hitting a large part of the US.  In all this madness it is difficult to stay warm.  If you are like me I get cold very easily and need a little extra help during these cold times!  Luckily, I have some great items that I use daily to stay warm and comfortable all winter long.  If we have to live in this weather we might as well enjoy it!

1. Muk Luks-

These are one of my absolute favorite items this winter!  I didn’t know these existed until my sister bought me a pair for Christmas 2 years ago.  Ever since then I wear them non-stop!  Not only do they keep your feet warm, but they are also super cute!  They are my go to slippers for when company comes over.  My favorite around the house attire is wearing them with leggings and a warm tunic.  I like to add a scarf to this ensemble if my neck decides it needs warmth.  Although mine are a different color, I found these on Amazon if you would like to try them out.  I have had mine for a little over two years and they have held up very well.  I received some others slippers around the same time that are completely worn out now that I had to throw away.  In comparison my Muk Luks have held up wonderfully!

This is my favorite style of Muk Luks because I love wearing these slippers with leggings:)

2.  Starbucks Peppermint Hot Chocolate Packs

So I am definitely a Starbucks lover!  When I am not drinking coffee there, I like to get their others drinks.  One of my favorite is their peppermint hot chocolate, and I like drinking it all winter long.  It is the beginning of February, and I just got peppermint hot chocolate the other day:)  The nice thing about this is that Starbucks makes a “Peppermint Hot Chocolate” drink mix that you can buy from the store!  I am definitely stocked with a supply of these packets all winter for those days that I just don’t feel like heading out in the snow to get a drink.

If I notice I am cold even with my slippers, blankets, and other accessories then I head to the kitchen and make myself some.  It is a great cold weather drink!  I have included a link below if you are like me and LOVE your Starbucks!  On the back of each packet they have put a recipe of how to make a Caffee Mocha with your hot chocolate!

I have included a link here if you want to try them:)  They are one of my favorite drinks to drink in this winter weather!

3.  Velvet Plush Heated Throw Blanket

It feels as amazing as it sounds!  Not only is it a super soft/comfortable throw, but it also is heated!  What can be better than that on a cold winter day?  I try to use just regular blankets the majority of the time in winter, but there are just some days where it gets too cold and a heated throw is definitely needed.  I also love curling up with this heated throw right before bed:)  It gives me some added warmth and relaxation as bedtime is calling my name.

The velvet plush heated throw blanket I have is from sunbeam, but you can really get them all over.  I have included a link below if you want to check out one similar to mine:)

4.  A Good Book to Warm the Soul

There isn’t much to do in the winter during extreme cold.  You know it is bad when the ski resorts in your area are closed due to the wind chill.  At these times it is good to keep a book on hand that you can read.  Since it is winter, try to get a book that will warm your heart!  For Christmas this year I received a kindle that I absolutely LOVE!  I can store all my books in one place, and when I buy books online they are normally cheaper than buying the hard copy.  Although I do have to say that I still love the feel of a book in my hands as well… I still keep some hard copy books close by for those times!

One of the books I have been reading this winter is called Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.  I have heard it is a great book that will leave your heart full at the end.  I am not going to lie though… I am about 1/2 through and some parts are difficult to read.  I can’t wait for that ending to see what happens!  So if you haven’t already please check out a book that you can really get into this winter and that warms your heart:)  If you don’t want to read  Redeeming Love, and don’t know what other books to read try asking your friends.  A lot of times if you need a good book recommendation, then you can always go onto twitter and Facebook and see what people say.  Those are two great resources!

I have included the link not only to Redeeming Love, but also to the Kindle Paperwhite link.  If you have been thinking about getting one it has been amazing, and I have loved it so far!  I love organizing my books in one place and reading at night with the lights off while my husband sleeps:)

5.  A Warm Fire

Nothing can take the place of a warm fire on a cold day/night.  This is hands down my favorite thing about winter!  Sitting by the fire… with all my fun warming items are some of the best times I have during the winter months.  Of course it is always better with family and friends surrounding you as well.

If you don’t have a real fireplace that is okay!  There are definitely items you can get like electric fireplaces that you can buy separately and put in any room in your home:)  I personally do not own one since we have a wood burning fireplace, but I am going to be looking into getting one for our bedroom.  There is something about a fireplace that is instantly relaxing when you walk into a room.

My hope for you this winter season is to take time and treasure the small things in life.  These things are what keeps us going on a day to day basis, and fill our life with joy!  We might be experiencing some crazy weather this year, but it is how we react to it that makes us the people we are.  Make sure you are enjoying this time of the year, and if you are truly hating this weather after trying some of these fun ways to stay warm, then plan your summer vacation!  That way you start thinking about the warm weather that is soon to be here.

Until Then,
